We are late. Not late to the fight. Late to putting the papers in a reader’s hands, every day, so a parent can follow it and a student can finish it.
If you are opening this cold: the National American Citizen Association exists to educate the next generation about the threat to Western civilization and the importance of Israel, and to put the Constitution back where it belongs — in the citizen’s own file, not in a slogan. Secure Their Tomorrow is that file. For months the posts went quiet. The mission did not. This series is how we catch up: one sourced civic-education piece at a time, documents you can open yourself.
Why Israel Matters is already live. That article is who Israel is, in Truman’s recognition and in Hamas’s own 1988 Covenant. This one is what that article sits on. Free people cannot keep what they cannot name. Here is the record of what this Republic inherited, what replaces it when a people forgets, and what the Constitution requires.
What Western civilization is
Western civilization is not a skin color and it is not a chant. It is a legal and moral inheritance: a way of ordering a people so that the person is not the property of the ruler.
Four roots, one American tree:
Jerusalem. The person has dignity because it is given, not granted by the state. The American Founders wrote that down: rights come from the Creator, not from Congress.
Athens. Citizens reason together. A people can govern itself.
Rome and England. Law is above the king. Magna Carta (1215) and English common law taught that even the crown is under the law. The American Constitution is that lesson, written and ratified.
Philadelphia, 1787. The American written form of the whole inheritance: a limited government of enumerated powers, split into branches so no one man is the law.
If a student cannot name those roots, they cannot defend the tree.
The American test
The Declaration states the moral claim:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The Constitution states the legal claim. Article VI:
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Preamble names who this is for: “ourselves and our Posterity.” The next generation is not a metaphor. It is in the first sentence of the document.
The President swears to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Every officer, state and federal, is bound by oath to support it. There is no oath to a foreign legal code, a global body, or a campus theory.
If a proposed law, custom, treaty, or “community standard” contradicts the Constitution, it loses.
The First Amendment is the liberty test inside that rule: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press. A system of law that punishes apostasy, blasphemy, or unequal testimony by faith cannot be “accommodated” into that amendment. It is a rival.
The three branches exist so that none of them becomes the rival. Congress makes law. The President executes law. The courts interpret law. None of them is entitled to replace the Constitution. (NACA, Branches of Government.)
How a civilization is replaced
Civilizations are rarely conquered only by armies. They are replaced when the next generation is not taught what it inherited, and when a rival law is allowed to stand beside the old law, then above it.
Case study: Iran, 1979.
On July 10, 2024, Reza Pahlavi told the National Conservatism Conference in Washington:
Western civilization, and the United States in particular, is at risk. I say this because this is exactly what happened to my country 45 years ago. Iran, you might say, was the testing grounds for what my late father called the unholy alliance of the red and the black — radical Marxism and radical Islamism. These two ideologies converged not to create, but to destroy.

What happened in Iran was not a change of cabinet. It was a change of what the country was. Pahlavi’s account, which matches the public record of 1979:
- The National Consultative Assembly became the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
- The national army was shunned for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
- The Lion and Sun on the flag was replaced with Allahu Akbar.
- Khomeini, as Pahlavi quotes him: “Patriots are of no use to us. We need Muslims. Islam is opposed to nationalism. Because nationalism means we want the nation, nationhood, and not Islam.”
That last line is the key. The threat is not a people. It is an ideology that does not believe in the nation-state, and therefore cannot live at peace with a Constitution that begins “We the People of the United States.”
Pahlavi’s further point, which a student should be able to repeat: this is not a war between Iran and America. It is a war of a radical internationalist ideology on all nations, Iran first. The Iranian people are not the enemy. The ideology that took their country is.
Erasing the memory. When a movement wants a new law, it destroys the old symbols. In March 2001 the Taliban dynamited the giant Buddhas of Bamiyan, carved in the 6th century, because they were a witness that Afghanistan had not always been what the Taliban said it was. In 2015, ISIS wrecked temples at Palmyra. A people that cannot remember cannot remain. That is why NACA already posts The Destruction of Classical Civilization. The threats facing this generation
Four, and they work together.
Rival law. Sharia is a complete legal-political system. It is not a private devotion. In its classical form it claims authority over speech, worship, family, crime, and the status of non-Muslims. That claim collides with Article VI and with the First Amendment.
This is not a statement about every Muslim person. Millions of Muslims live as peaceful neighbors under the Constitution. The test is the system of law, and the movements that mean it: the 1979 regime in Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban, ISIS. A student who cannot tell a person from an ideology will be easy to bully into silence.
The legal answer in America is simple. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. There is no second track.
The red-and-black alliance. Pahlavi named it: radical Marxism and radical Islamism, neither of which believes in the nation. After Hamas murdered Israelis on October 7, 2023, American campuses showed the alliance in the open. A West that cannot say Israel has a right to exist has already begun to forget why America does. Erasure in school. A Republic that does not teach its documents will not keep them. Previous generations were taught, on purpose, to spot propaganda. NACA still hosts the 1948 classroom film. Assignment: read the Declaration and the Constitution, not a summary of them. Then read what the school handout says. Mark the difference.
Forgetting why Israel matters. The war on the Jewish state is the sharp edge of the war on the West. Jews are not a guest in that inheritance. They are one of its roots.
What to do with this
Educate. Read the Declaration (the self-evident truths), the Constitution (Preamble and Article VI), and Pahlavi on Fight Extremism. Original documents, not a feed.
Empower. A citizen who can quote those papers cannot be talked out of their own law.
Choose. Choose the Constitution as supreme law. Choose to tell a person from an ideology. Choose to teach the next generation the roots, not a rewrite.
What we inherited is the dignity of the person, law above the ruler, and self-government. America is that inheritance in writing. Iran in 1979 is the warning: a nation can be replaced by an ideology that does not believe in nations. Israel is not a side issue. It is the next document in the same file.
